The MPU6050 is a 6-DOF (Degrees of Freedom) Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that integrates a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope on a single chip. It is one of the most popular and affordable IMUs used in IoT research, robotics, drones, and academic projects.
The MPU6050 also features a Digital Motion Processor (DMP) capable of sensor fusion, allowing real-time calculation of orientation data (pitch, roll, yaw). It is extensively used in research-level applications such as motion tracking, gesture recognition, robotics navigation, UAV stabilization, wearable devices, and academic experiments on sensor fusion and Kalman filtering. |
