The NEO-8M GPS Module is an advanced GNSS receiver from u-blox designed for high-precision research applications. Compared to the NEO-6M, the NEO-8M offers faster satellite acquisition, higher accuracy, and better sensitivity, making it suitable for demanding IoT and academic projects. It supports GPS, QZSS, and SBAS (WAAS, EGNOS, MSAS, GAGAN) for improved global coverage and accuracy (typically <2 meters CEP). The module uses a UART interface, making it compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, STM32, and other research microcontrollers. It also includes a ceramic antenna, onboard voltage regulator (3.3V–5V), and backup battery for faster position lock.
The NEO-8M is widely used in research-level autonomous drones, robotics navigation, precision agriculture, GIS mapping, real-time vehicle tracking, and environmental monitoring systems.
